My story
The question I getmost often isn'tabout paint.
It's "how did you get into this?" — asked in kitchens, driveways, or halfway through a consult. I'm Patricia Smith, and I started The Colour Chameleon in 2017. The full story stretches back to before that, in other people's houses, with a lot of samples taped to a lot of walls.

I came to color from the other side of the paint job.
Before The Colour Chameleon, I worked in residential painting — quoting projects, managing them, standing in the room while the work happened. Which meant I spent years walking into homes that were already covered in samples.
Different houses, different people, the same three sentences:
No. 01
The paint chip doesn't look the same on my wall.
No. 02
I'm embarrassed to admit how much I've spent on samples.
No. 03
I should have tested the color before we painted the whole room.
Too many people were walking into a paint project unprepared for the one decision that's hardest to undo. It led to rooms nobody was happy with. And, to the calls I still remember: stop the painters, we have to change the color. A repaint means more paint, more labor, more money, and almost all of it was avoidable.
That's when I knew I could help.
Nine years later that's still the whole job — what I know about color, plus everything the painting years taught me, pointed at getting it right before a single gallon is bought.

It's your house. You get your taste, not mine.
Some people arrive a little guarded, because the last person they hired decided for them. I don't work that way. I listen first — how you actually live in the room, what you already love in it, what you're really trying to fix — and then I bring the colors that get you there.
I've always had a knack for seeing what a space could be, and after years of my own home projects I earned a certification in home redecorating. So don't be surprised if the conversation goes past your walls: lighting, where the furniture sits, even the plants out front. I just love helping people see what's possible.
See how a consult actually goesProfessional artists hire me.
People with art degrees, working artists: "I should be able to figure this out, but for some reason I can't." There's nothing wrong with their eye. Reading a color on a wall — in your light, against your floors, your brick, the house next door — is a different craft than making a beautiful thing. It's the one I do full time.
- Nine years as The Colour Chameleon
- Fifteen years in residential painting before that
- 950+ consultations since 2020
- Certified in home redecorating
The referrals sound like this.
Nobody says "they were very professional." It comes out more personal than that.
I absolutely love this woman, you have to call her.
You were my angel.
I wish I'd known about this service before.

Garden, then the gym
You'll find me in the garden, on the tennis court, or at the gym: building the strength to carry the 40+ pounds of color materials I bring to every consult!

Forty-plus pounds of color materials comes with me to every consult. It starts here.
I love color, I love homes, and I love helping people get it right.
Where I work
North metro Atlanta: Roswell, Marietta, Johns Creek, and Cumming, and more than two dozen suburbs around them — Buckhead is my southern line, and everything north of it is home ground. And yes, it's Colour with a u — the brand kept the British spelling, but The Color Chameleon finds me just the same.
You've met me. Here's the work.
Where most people go next.
